19 April 2024
OMRON Corporation has been awarded the Platinum rating by EcoVadis, recognising the company as being in the top one percent of all businesses assessed for sustainability performance.
This is the third time that OMRON has received this international Platinum recognition since fiscal year 2020.
Leading to this Platinum recognition for 2023, OMRON received advanced scores in the four measurement areas of ‘Environment’ (80/100), ‘Labor and Human Rights’ (80/100), ‘Sustainable Procurement’ (80/100), and ‘Ethics’ (70/100).
In these four categories, the following strengths contributed towards the Platinum certification:
• Environment: OMRON was recognised for being the first manufacturing company in Japan to join EP100, having all of its manufacturing sites ISO14001-certified. It is communicating progress on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and is certified by the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi), an international initiative
• Labour & Human Rights: OMRON’s human rights policy on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I) include impact assessments identifying potential child labour, forced labour and/or human trafficking, while its comprehensive reporting on labour and human rights issues forms part of the first stage (FY22-FY24) of OMRON’s long-term vision, Shaping the Future 2030 (SF2030)
• Sustainable procurement: OMRON provides training for employees on sustainable procurement, and discloses the percentage of suppliers that have received CSR evaluations
• Ethics: the company’s ISO27001 certification of information security management systems covers information security risk assessments, and audits of control procedures to prevent information security breaches
Says Yue Liu, Senior General Manager of Sustainability Office at OMRON Corporation: “It is an honour to get recognised for our sustainability efforts by one of the largest and most trusted sustainability indices.
