FANUC UK is inviting the next generation of robotics engineers to enter the WorldSkills UK Industrial Robotics competition.
The UK has a strong and proud manufacturing history and, for a small nation, has long punched above its weight on the global stage. Today, the UK remains the ninth largest manufacturing nation in the world, with a £183bn output. But our seat at the top table is looking precarious as a result of our slow adoption of industrial automation.
The robotics engineering industry needs to act now to address the widening skills gap within the sector by nurturing the next generation of talent, says industrial automation innovator FANUC UK.
Over 600 visitors converged at the annual FANUC UK Open House event in Ansty Park, Coventry between 2 and 4 November 2022, as the industrial automation community sought to address some of the key challenges and opportunities facing manufacturers today.
The Volkswagen Group has placed an order with FANUC for 1,300 robots, demonstrating the strength of its relationship with the automation specialist. Throughout 2022 and 2023, FANUC will supply four VW plants across Europe with a variety of robotic solutions to support the production of both Audi and VW models.
A 22-year partnership with FANUC has been hailed as a key factor in Icelandic firm Samey Robotics’ role in revolutionising the international supply chain for fresh fish.
FANUC has cemented its commitment to R&D with the launch of four new products in the first half of 2022 alone.
In a bid to address the ongoing manufacturing labour crisis, FANUC UK is uniting a collective of automation experts, bringing together more than 30 leading names from across the automation and robotics industry to debate and discuss the most pressing issues facing the manufacturing sector today.
