Cleaner, greener energy tech on show at Advanced Engineering

As Advanced Engineering approaches, excitement is building with fresh announcements of cutting-edge green energy-based technologies and products to be showcased at the upcoming event at the NEC in Birmingham on 30 and 31 October 2024. 

As a result, this year’s exhibition is shaping up to be a must-attend for engineering and manufacturing professionals, offering a glimpse into the future of innovation, including several examples of tech based on cleaner energy.

Among the exciting new additions, Flux Aviation will debut its prototype electric aircraft on the show floor. Flux Aviation, an innovative start-up on a mission to accelerate the transition of aviation towards electric power, is making waves in the industry having recently been recognised as the ‘Most promising solution’ by Innovation Zero, ‘Manufacturing Start-up of the Year’ by Made in the Midlands, and ‘Cleantech Startup of the Year’ by the Midlands Startup Awards. At the show, attendees will have the opportunity to see its groundbreaking aircraft prototype.

Also joining the lineup is ZeroAvia, a provider of hydrogen-electric propulsion and fueling solutions that will be presenting its hydrogen electric powertrain and fuel cell demonstrators. The company, which was named America’s number one green tech company by TIME magazine last year, continues to push the envelope in sustainable aviation and will provide an in-depth look at their innovative approach to zero-emission flight at Advanced Engineering this year. 

In addition, the Markforged reseller of high-end 3D printers, Mark3D, will be showcasing the UAV Sensus Drone and Robo Challenge's Spectre Robot for those interested in the latest in drone and robotics technology. These cutting-edge technologies promise to draw in visitors with their advanced capabilities.

The University of Southampton will also be bringing its electric Formula Student car to the event, offering a firsthand look at the future of motorsport engineering. Here, the student-driven project exemplifies the fusion of education and innovation in the electric vehicle space.

Meanwhile BEDEO, a British electric vehicle supplier and manufacturer, will host a live interactive demonstration of its electrification retrofit technology. This will showcase the transformation of a van into a fully electric vehicle, a hands-on exhibit allowing visitors to see the electrification process in action.

Autonomous vehicles will also be in the spotlight, with Ohmio unveiling its autonomous shuttle, a self-driving vehicle designed to enhance public transport efficiency and safety. Vehicles from Nissan and RML, a leading high performance automotive engineering company, are expected to make an appearance at the show too. 

In the marine sector, ARGO Engineering will introduce its DynaProa and FastRig Windwing concepts, offering innovative offerings for wind-assisted propulsion in marine transport.
