Siemens becomes technology partner for Goodwood Festival of Speed

26 June 2019

Siemens will be showcasing a host of ingenious technology to help make the world a cleaner, greener, and digital place.

As a technology partner, Siemens supported by GeoPura, will be showcasing a new decentralised power source, the hydrogen fuel cell, which will produce up to 150kW of electricity and be responsible for providing power to the First Glance Paddock to charge the new electric vehicles (EVs) and EV supercars on display, as well as providing clean mobile phone charger points for visitors.

Siemens will also be presenting EVs that have been completely renovated and decarbonised to demonstrate the range of options that can help the UK move towards cleaner air. This includes the BULL-E, a converted VW camper van that is now purely electric, and the eChopper – a completely electric motorcycle which will (silently) be taking part in the iconic Goodwood hill climb.

Providing charger points for the EVs will be the brand-new Siemens AC22 – an electric charger ideal for fleet charging due to its high power and high speed.

In the FOS Future Lab, Siemens will be displaying the new electric battery for the latest Aston Martin – charged by the AC22 – as well as giving visitors the option to create a ‘Digital Twin’ of themselves using technologies Siemens uses to design and manufacture cars and components.

Juergen Maier, CEO of Siemens plc, said, “At Siemens, we champion ingenious technology that supports the way people live. Our technology will help people and businesses to become cleaner, greener and electric. Becoming a technology partner for Goodwood Festival of Speed allows us to showcase some of the incredible work and research we’re doing to support a more sustainable future, whether that’s alternative energy sources, supporting the move to electric vehicles or digital updates to manufacturing.”
