Wearing Industry 4.0 on your wrist - Smartwatch for industrial use

14 May 2018

Munich startup WORKERBASE has devised a solution which combines Industry 4.0 software with a smartwatch specifically designed for industrial use.

The watch comes bundled with a backend solution. It is a powerful event-driven system that digitises and optimises workflow processes thus reducing process time by 81 percent in certain use cases. You can also connect it to legacy systems and issue alerts, show working instructions, implement checklists for quality control and more.

Co-founder Norman Hartmann commented, “We are building a smartwatch and we are using it to digitise and optimise work of all kinds. The beauty is that we have a platform where you can actually create applications without any programming.”

The possible application areas are endless, for example:

- Maintenance alerts - save time by sending notification/alarms to service technicians

- Digital work instructions - improve process compliance by displaying standardised work instructions on a smartwatch

- Inspection procedures - improve quality by using digital checklists and photo documentation on a smartwatch

- Process coordination - improve collaboration by sending messages to co-workers
