Bringing data from the production floor to the cloud

22 March 2018

The Industrial Internet of Things is rapidly rising in popularity. Businesses expect the ability to access production metrics in real-time from their smartphone or laptop. KEB’s MQTT IoT Edge Gateway was developed to meet this need. Controls Application Specialist Colin presents this detailed tutorial on getting started with MQTT and how to bring data from the production floor to the cloud.

This tutorial will take you through MQTT configuration using Amazon AWS cloud services, KEB Combivis Connect and Combivis Studio HMI Software.

Part 1 (0:46): In this section you will learn how to set up AWS using IoT rules, Lambda functions and their Dynamo DB tables.

Part 2 (6:16): Here you will learn how to create a project in COMBIVIS Studio HMI software and implement Comm drivers, tags, set up a data logger.

Part 3 (11:07): In the last section KEB will set up the C6 Edge Router using COMBIVIS Connect with security files, it will edit the MQTT configuration file and load the project onto the router.

After this you will see the router connect to the AWS console and begin to push data onto the DynamoDB service.
